Imaginoor in November 2022

Oh haaaay,

Happy Halloween, all! I wanted to let you all know how I enjoy hearing from you all, learning about how you are and about why you enjoy my work. It speaks volumes to me.

A friend recently asked my why I make my photos. It seemed like an easy question to respond to but as we got into our banter, I came to realize that it makes me happy knowing that my art makes others happy. For some it serves as a vessel to their happy place. While I am creating my photos and savoring being in the moment, I seldom realize how my craft in its printed format brings happiness to someone when he/she sees it on a wall. Happiness is a treasured commodity and I am glad my craft generates a commodity.

I was out riding my motorcycle through some of the beautiful winding roads in Lincoln, MA when I suddenly came across a bunch of random rocking horses on the side of the road (also known as Ponyhenge). I went to check it out and ended up meeting the couple that maintained this landmark. I was fascinated by their story and asked if I could come back and lightpaint some of the horses. The couple were skeptical but curious about my technique and wanted to watch me make the photos.

They were surprised but still curious when I showed up with my camera, a tripod and just two small flashlights. I think they were expecting a whole spectacle of equipment. I put on my headphones and started to 'paint' the horses with my small flashlights. About 15 minutes later, I told them I was done. I showed them the back of my camera and they were blown away with the raw images on my camera. I thanked them for letting me photograph their horses and sent them two prints as a gift. I appreciated them being curious and patient to learn about a something new rather than slam the door in my face. There ARE good curious people out there.
